How to Stay Healthy While Staying Home

With changes going on in the world today, the majority of us are using more time in our houses. It can feel tricky to stick with a healthy lifestyle when your gym in Rochester is closed.

You may have found yourself becoming the principal, chef, and parent in your house. Maybe you are working from home for a time and struggling to find some organization throughout the day.

During these uncertain times, it can be tempting to head to the couch, staring at the news and movie after movie, and likely giving up on a normal workout routine. We may be passing more time at home, but we can nevertheless generate ways to continue a healthy lifestyle! Take a look at our favorite productive practices you can integrate into your updated day-to-day routine to stay active, help your immune system, and keep momentum toward achieving your wellness targets.

Integrate Home Workouts

One nice thing about spending extra time at home is the flexibility in your everyday routine. Go through your schedule. Where can you squeeze in ten minutes for a quick workout? A great workout doesn’t need to go for hours to make a difference. As long as your heart rate goes up, you will find fat and calorie-burning perks! Check out our 12-minute home fitness class you can do anytime, anywhere!

Involve Your Kids in Your Workout

The pools may not be open, but there are still many ways to add fun projects your children will want to do. Because being active isn’t just for mom and dad! Here are a few of our preferred fun (and free!) ways the entire family can get all together:

  • Walk the dog
  • Play frisbee out of your house in the sunshine (hello Vitamin D!)
  • Break for a bike ride or roller skate adventure
  • Form a floral arrangement with your outdoor blossoms
  • Play ball in the backyard
  • Spot your sidewalk chalk and draft a driveway mural
  • Have a dinner cooking contest
  • Turn on the music and have a dance -off

Make Healthy Meals

Are you trying your best to bypass shopping for groceries? No problem! Now is the time to get creative in the kitchen and mix in your family’s canned goods and frozen foods. With the kiddos on break, busy days working from home, and the usual household chores, keep your breakfasts, lunches, and dinners easy this season.

At FXB, we make good nutrition simple for our members. Grab your preferred protein kind from the freezer, find a carb for a side, and integrate some healthy fat. And there you go: a healthy meal without the fuss. (And if it’s your fun day, order a pizza and unwind!)
